DOCOMO Develops LTE-compatible Multi-Band Antenna And Indoor Base Station – Nov 21, 2013– Tokyo, Japan (Techreleased) – NTT DOCOMO, INC., a personalized mobile solutions provider for smarter living, announced today that it has developed an indoor multi-band base station and antenna that are newly compatible with the 1.5 and 1.7 GHz frequency bands for extra-high-speed LTE network service offering a maximum downlink of 150 Mbpsnotice1notice2, in addition to the conventionally supported 2 GHz band. Installations of the new base station and antenna for commercial service are beginning today.

NTT DocomoThe new multi-band base station fits into limited spaces in indoor locations and the new multi-band antenna, which is about the same size as the current single-band antenna, can replace existing antennas using the same space. Thanks to both developments, users can experience enhanced network quality in indoor environments.

The new base station and antenna are compatible with LTE Advanced carrier aggregation technology, as well as W-CDMA and LTE, so they will be able to offer a maximum downlink of 225 Mbpsnotice1notice3 when DOCOMO launches its LTE Advanced service by the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016.
