In a recent announcement, Qualcomm Technologies and Xiaomi revealed that they have successfully verified meter-level positioning accuracy in the Xiaomi 12T Pro smartphone, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon® 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform, in Germany. This achievement marks an unprecedented level of accuracy in a commercial smartphone, enabling superior location capabilities for mapping, driving, fitness, and other mobile applications.
Qualcomm’s Meter-Level Positioning for Mobile, combined with Trimble RTX correction services, enables meter-level positioning accuracy in the Xiaomi 12T Pro smartphone. This level of accuracy enhances the user experience in several scenarios, including ridesharing applications, fitness applications, and in-vehicle real-time navigation applications, by providing greater accuracy for location identification, tracking movements, and providing more accurate directions.
The verification tests, including driving tests, were conducted by Qualcomm Technologies, Xiaomi, and Trimble in various scenarios such as open-sky rural roads and urban highways, and demonstrated meter-level positioning variance at a 95% confidence level, a rigorous threshold for mobile location technologies. These tests validate the effectiveness of Qualcomm’s Meter-Level Positioning for Mobile and Trimble RTX correction services in enabling superior location capabilities in smartphones.
