Toshiba Launches Small Sized Brushed DC Motor Driver ICs – Nov 21, 2013– Tokyo, Japan (Techreleased) – Toshiba Corporation today announced that the launch of “TB9101FNG” and “TB9102FNG” as the latest additions to its line-up of small sized brushed DC motor drivers for automotive applications. Mass production is scheduled to start in February 2014.

Automotive applications that use small motors, such as control of air-conditioner valves and door mirrors, require low power consumption driver ICs.
The new motor drivers are fabricated with the low power consumption, fine pitch BiCD process[1], and realize low on-resistance, reducing power consumption. Adoption of small sized package reduces the mounting area to approximately 1/3 that of equivalent products[2], contributing to the downsizing of PCBs. The ICs integrate multiple abnormality detection circuits, which help to improve the functional safety of automotive systems.
The “TB9101FNG” can drive two motors and “TB9102FNG” can drive up to six motors, allowing selection to meet the number of motors required for applications.
Key Features of New Products
- Low on-resistance reduces power consumption.
TB9101FNG: 0.6Ω (Typ.), TB9102FNG: 0.5Ω (Typ.) - Adoption of small flat SSOP24 package reduces mounting area.
- Built-in abnormality detection circuit: Overcurrent detection, overtemperature detection, overvoltage detection, and undervoltage detection.
Applications
Automotive motor applications, such as control of air-conditioner valves and door mirror angle adjustment.
