For much of the last century, STEM disciplines—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math—have been instrumental to shaping the world we live in.
From the satellites and airplanes that keep people connected across the globe to the invisible, underground flows of electricity and fuel that keep our world moving, and everything in between, STEM knowledge has provided the building blocks of safe, healthy, and prosperous societies today.
But as we look to the challenges of the next century and grapple with questions of identity, inclusivity, and self-expression, it is clear that art and design will play a critical role in driving the innovation and critical thinking required to create a better future for everyone.
Campus Party Singapore are designed to help shift the narrative from STEM to STEAM, with numerous sessions by some of Singapore’s leading multidisciplinary experts, including:
  • Kevin Lim, Deputy Director of CoLab X National Gallery Singapore: With an academic background in communication theory and research methods that include wearing networked cameras and computing devices, Kevin wants to help people understand how social computing shapes their social and economic lives.
  • Eugene Soh, Artist, Designer and Programmer: Also known as DUDE, Eugene is a computer programmer who ‘accidentally’ became an artist a photograph he took went viral on social media. These days, he is a full time artist who uses innovative technology to create experiences such as virtual tours of heritage sites and live motion dance installations.
  • Randolf Arriola – Artist, designer, programmer: Randolf Arriola is an internationally acclaimed Singaporean singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, electronics wiz, sonic painter and live looping extraordinaire. He specializes in live looping, a unique music-making and performance method which he uses to create and process loops of sound, in real time, using his voice and guitar.
  • Rex Lee, Co-founder of Bold Ideas Studio Pte Ltd and The Ukulele Assemble of Singapore: Rex plays the theremin and other unusual instruments, and runs a creative studio as well.
  • Alvin Pang. Alvin Pang is a poet, writer, editor, anthologist and translator. He was Singapore’s Young Artist of the Year for Literature in 2005. His poems have been translated into over fifteen languages, and he has appeared in major festivals and publications worldwide.
