Rolls-Royce to design and equip Stern Trawler to Ramoen – Oct 28, 2014– Gijón, Spain (Techreleased) – The Armon shipyard in Gijón, Spain has entered into a contract to build a new Stern Trawler for the Norwegian fishing company Ramoen. The vessel will be a Rolls-Royce design, type NVC 372, and the contract value is £6.5m to Rolls-Royce.

The vessel will carry out traditional fishing operations for whitefish and shrimps, and will be equipped for both bottom and pelagic trawl.

John Knudsen, Rolls-Royce President Offshore, said: “This will be the second design of type NVC to Ramoen and we are very happy for this new contract and the longstanding cooperation with this innovative owner”.

To achieve the best possible operating economy and environment-friendly profile, the vessel will have an optimised hybrid propulsion system configuration based on operational studies of existing vessels.

Rolls-Royce will supply the design, and the vessel’s main equipment, incorporating many of the newest products from Rolls-Royce, such as Hybrid Shaft Generator system (HSG). This 75 meter long vessel will be taken to a new level of flexibility, redundancy and efficiency in all operational modes. The new Bergen B33:45 diesel engine will together with Promas integrated rudder and propeller system provide the most fuel efficient propulsion available in the market. Low pressure hydraulic driven trawl winches will also be delivered.

Fuel-economy, environmental considerations, comfort, safety and performance at sea underpin the vessel design. It has 1,200 m3 cargo hold capacity, 450 m3 meal hold, with a freezing capacity of 90 t/24hr and the holds are constructed for palletized cargo.
