MINI's Latest Range of Cars and Technology at Auto Shanghai 2023

MINI, a British car manufacturer, has presented its latest range of cars and technology at the 20th International Automobile Industry Exhibition, also known as Auto Shanghai. The exhibition is regarded as one of the most significant motor shows globally, and over 800,000 visitors attended in 2021. The event will take place from 18th to 27th April at the China Expo Convention and Exhibition Complex in Shanghai. MINI fans are eagerly awaiting the highlights that are on display.

The event marks the world premiere of MINI’s first all-electric Cooper SE Convertible. It is the first locally emission-free premium convertible presented in the small car segment, and only 999 units are available. The car will offer exclusive open-air driving from April 2023, and the limited edition vehicle comes in the colours Enigmatic Black and White Silver. It also has edition-specific equipment details with the lettering “1 of 999”. The car has a range of 201 kilometres in the WLTP test cycle, enabling open-air excursions well beyond the city limits. The edition-specific light-alloy wheels made of 100% secondary aluminium reduce CO2 emissions compared to conventional manufacturing processes.

MINI also gave visitors a glimpse of the MINI Concept Aceman, the first all-electric crossover model in the new MINI family. The concept vehicle embodies agility and a self-confident presence, and the brand has designed it with the future “Charismatic Simplicity” MINI design language in mind. It focuses on the essentials and reinterprets the creative use of space typical of the brand. The interior features a circular OLED display that takes up the entire surface of the central instrument, which is a first in the automobile industry.

MINI has reimagined Spike, the companion of the brand since its debut in 2001, for the digital world. In the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant role, Spike will provide support to drivers, and he also appears in the MINI Concept Aceman as a large-format sculpture on the stand. The art toy combines elements of toys and sculptures in the style of urban pop culture. Spike will be a connecting link between drivers and the car in the future MINI model family.

MINI is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the MINI Convertible with the Seaside Edition, which offers a wide range of exclusive equipment and design features. The special edition is available as the Cooper and Cooper S and will offer individual open-top driving fun. The Cooper’s combined fuel consumption is 6.4 – 5.9 l/100 km, with combined CO2 emissions of 145 – 135 g/km according to WLTP, and the Cooper S’s combined fuel consumption is 6.9 – 6.5 l/100 km, with combined CO2 emissions of 157 – 148 g/km according to WLTP.

The John Cooper Works brand’s top athletes will also be showcased at Auto Shanghai. They are popular in Asia and have had remarkable success there.

In conclusion, MINI has presented an extensive range of new cars and technology at Auto Shanghai. The all-electric MINI Cooper SE Convertible and MINI Concept Aceman are set to shape the future of the MINI family.
