Dec 20, 2012– Munich, Germany  (Techreleased) –  MAN Diesel & Turbo has received two orders to supply a total of seven gensets featuring highly efficient and low-emission 18V48/60TS engines for power plants in Surinam and Indonesia. Together, the orders are worth Euro 43 million.

The first order comes from Olibis N.V., an importer from Surinam, to supply three gensets with control systems and mechanical auxiliary equipment to energy firm Energiebedrijven Suriname (EBS) for a power plant in Paramaribo, the capital of Surinam. The MAN engines with a maximum output of 21,168 kW each will be installed in the existing EBS Saramaccastraat power plant. The 63 MW plant will play a key role in safeguarding the South American country’s power supply as part of the 287 MW grid installed nationwide.

MAN Diesel & Turbo received the second order from PT Berkat Bima Sentana, an Indonesian independent energy production company. It comprises the delivery of four gensets featuring 18V48/60TS engines with auxiliary electromechanical equipment for a power plant in Belawan, close to the city of Medan, in the north of Sumatra. The MAN gensets will supplement an existing power plant of the off-taker, PT PLN, which in future will make a considerable contribution towards ensuring a constant supply of power to Indonesia’s fourth-largest city.

“The two orders for our engine model with two-stage turbocharging are important references for MAN Diesel & Turbo on the South American and Asian market that will open up new opportunities for us,” says Dr. René Umlauft, CEO of MAN Diesel & Turbo and the Executive Board Member responsible for the Power Plants business.
