Oct 15, 2012– Sunnyvale,USA (Techreleased) – Ford launches scout for SYNC AppLink. Telenav®, Inc., the leader in personalized navigation, and Ford announced today that Scout by Telenav is now available in cars through Ford SYNC AppLink. With the launch of Scout in Ford vehicles, mobile users now have the ability to access the same personalized navigation app in their cars that they have on their phones.

Scout is a daily personal navigator that sets itself apart from other navigation and discovery services by providing personalized information about where to go, when to leave, how to get there, and what to do upon arrival. Telenav’s daily personal navigator is available on mobile phones (Android and iPhone), online at www.scount.me, and now in the car. Ford is the first automaker to make Scout for Cars available in vehicles.
“Scout brings a new, personalized, connected navigation and search experience to our cars,” said Doug VanDagens, global director of Ford Connected Services. “It adds an inexpensive, easy-to-use, trusted navigation service to any SYNC AppLink-equipped vehicle.”
AppLink is a standard feature of SYNC that allows drivers to access and control Ford-approved smartphone apps with voice commands and vehicle controls while on the go helping drivers keep their hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the road ahead.
Scout integrates with SYNC AppLink to provide hands-free, voice-activated access to local search, gas prices, directions and more. Drivers hear directions through the car’s speakers and see turn by turn prompts on the radio display. SYNC AppLink is available on a range of 2012 and 2013 model Ford vehicles including Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, Mustang, F-150, Super Duty, E-Series and Expedition. Currently, Ford has produced more than one million AppLink-equipped vehicles.
Drivers who download the premium version of Scout on their Android phone, which also launched today, will have access to “Car Connect,” a feature that enables the mobile app to work with AppLink. The premium version – $24.99 per year or $4.99 per month – also adds traffic incident information with automatic rerouting, speed traps, traffic camera information, lane assist and speed limit alerts.
“Powering Ford’s navigation systems, Telenav already help millions of drivers search and discover what’s around them,” said Dariusz Paczuski, vice president of products for Telenav. “We are excited to expand our partnership and give Ford drivers the first chance to experience Scout as an integrated, personalized navigation service across the car, phone, and Web.”
“With the addition of Scout for AppLink, Ford offers drivers a Telenav-powered navigation experience that fits their lifestyle,” added VanDagens.
Scout for Android is immediately available for Verizon, AT&T and Sprint customers through Google Play. Telenav also expects to launch it soon for T-Mobile customers. A video of Scout for Android is available atwww.telenav.com/products/scout.
