Nov 26, 2012– Lake Success, USA  (Techreleased) – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, together with its wholly-owned subsidiary, Virtual Imaging, Inc., today announced a two-year contract with Medical Management International, Inc., which does business as Banfield Pet Hospital®, the largest general veterinary practice in the world, to provide the Canon CXDI-55G(B) Digital Radiography (DR) System to locations in North America and South America. The thin and lightweight CXDI-55G(B) DR system can easily integrate into existing X-ray systems – a significant factor that helped the Company obtain the contract. The easy-to-use DR system, which produces on-screen preview images in just three seconds after exposure, can help veterinarian visits become efficient and improve the digital radiography process for pets.

“Canon is honored to receive this national-scale contract from Banfield Pet Hospital, a market leader in providing high-quality veterinary care, as well as industry-leading protocols and equipment, to pets and their families,” said Tsuneo Imai, senior director and general manager, Healthcare Solutions Division, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. “Selecting Canon’s expertise in medical imaging solutions reflects Banfield Pet Hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive veterinary care with equipment that produces exceptional DR images and incorporates large-area detection with high sensitivity.”

“At Banfield, our focus is making a better world for pets through preventive care and early disease diagnosis, which is why our partnership with Canon is a natural fit,” said Jeffrey Klausner, DVM, MS, DACVIM, senior vice president and chief medical officer for Banfield. “Canon’s integrated high-quality imaging, electronic storage and communications products are revolutionizing the way veterinary practices create, read and share diagnostic information. This technology is just one more way Banfield delivers on our commitment of providing high-quality veterinary medicine.”

In support of enhancing the usability of Canon’s technology for most Banfield hospitals, the national roll-out will include the installation of the Canon CXDI-55G(B) DR system. Additionally, Virtual Imaging, Inc., will be supplying the integration solution and have technicians available for training, service and support for the DR system throughout the duration of the contract. Currently, the Canon DR system is being operated in select Banfield locations and will continue to be installed over the next two years in other Banfield locations throughout North America and South America.

Committed to medical imaging since 1997, Canon has introduced several generations of flat panel detectors that offer a full range of DR system solutions for various applications. The flexibility of Canon DR solutions allows for both upgrading existing X-ray systems with Canon DR technology and including Canon DR systems as part of a completely new system.
