Azerbaijan Airlines, the flag carrier of Azerbaijan, has signed a firm order with Airbus for 12 A320neo Family aircraft, including A320neo and A321neo models. The contract was signed at a ceremony held in Baku, where the airline’s executives and Airbus officials were in attendance.
This order is part of Azerbaijan Airlines’ fleet renewal strategy to operate modern and fuel-efficient aircraft, increase operational efficiency and competitiveness, and offer passengers comfort throughout its fleet. The airline plans to deploy the new A320neo Family aircraft on both domestic and international routes.
“We are pleased to continue mutually beneficial cooperation with Airbus on the modernization program of our fleet and intend to strengthen the bilateral partnership. The signed contract will provide our passengers with the most modern and comfortable single-aisle aircraft,” said Samir Rzayev, the First Vice-President of AZAL CJSC.
The A320neo Family aircraft are equipped with the latest technologies, including new generation engines and Sharklets, which deliver at least 20% fuel burn and CO2 emission savings compared to previous models. The airline has not yet announced the engine choice for its new aircraft.
“We are confident that this choice will further boost the sustainable growth of Azerbaijan Airlines,” said Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International. “The A320neo Family continues to be a top choice for airlines looking for fuel-efficient and cost-effective fleet solutions. This order is a testament to the trust our customers have in the performance and reliability of our aircraft.”
Azerbaijan Airlines currently operates a fleet of 15 Airbus aircraft, including four A319ceo, six A320ceo, and two A340s. Since the beginning of the year, the airline has added three new-generation A320neo aircraft to its fleet. With the addition of the 12 new A320neo Family aircraft, the airline will be able to retire some of its older aircraft and improve its operational efficiency.
The A320neo Family aircraft offer passengers improved comfort, with wider seats and more legroom, as well as enhanced cabin features and entertainment systems. The aircraft’s advanced technology also improves safety and reliability, with better weather radar and communication systems.
This order marks an important milestone in the successful relationship between Airbus and Azerbaijan Airlines. The two companies have a long history of cooperation, with Airbus providing aircraft, maintenance, and training services to the airline. The new order further strengthens this partnership and demonstrates the airline’s confidence in Airbus’ products and services.
The A320neo Family aircraft are the most popular aircraft in the world, with 8,700 orders from 135 customers. The aircraft’s popularity is due to its advanced technology, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort. The aircraft is also popular with airlines due to its flexibility and ability to operate on both short and long-haul routes.
Azerbaijan Airlines’ order for 12 A320neo Family aircraft is a significant step in the airline’s fleet renewal strategy and will improve its operational efficiency while offering passengers enhanced comfort. The order also demonstrates the airline’s confidence in Airbus’ products and services and strengthens the partnership between the two companies. The new aircraft will join Azerbaijan Airlines’ existing fleet of Airbus aircraft and will be deployed on both domestic and international routes, further enhancing the airline’s network and services.
