Nov 22, 2012– Mortsel, Belgium  (Techreleased) – Agfa HealthCare announces that on November 7 it signed a new contract with the Refaja Hospital to implement Agfa HealthCare’s latest IMPAX Radiology Information System/Picture Archiving and Communication System (RIS/PACS). The new solution is scheduled to be implemented from December 2012 through February 2013, and go live in March 2013.

PACS and RIS support quality care
Refaja Hospital is a regional hospital in the municipality of Stadskanaal, on the border of the Groningen and Drenthe regions of the Netherlands. Founded in 1968, it offers both basic healthcare and specialist services. With its 550 staff members and 70 specialist doctors, the hospital counts some 45,000 inpatient days plus 145,000 outpatients each year. The hospital also cooperates with other regional hospitals.

Refaja Hospital determined that it needed to upgrade its RIS and PACS in order to continue providing top-quality care and services to patients as well as staff. While the hospital and Agfa HealthCare have an excellent long-term relationship, the hospital decided to seek competitive bids, to verify that the upgrade best met its needs.

After receiving various bids, the hospital chose to continue the relationship with Agfa HealthCare through a two-year contract, which can be extended for a third year. The contract includes the latest IMPAX RIS/PACS, Agfa HealthCare’s fully-integrated digital imaging and information management solution, as well as services. This solution will provide the hospital with the functionalities it needs, and allow it to continue cooperating with two other regional hospitals.

Smoother workflow and faster results
IMPAX RIS/PACS offers hospitals a streamlined enterprise workflow, as well as faster access to results and shorter report turnaround times. It also provides benefits including easy and efficient patient registration; consolidated, centralized management of patient images and information; and automatic billing data transmission. “The Agfa HealthCare solution gives us the innovative functionality we need,” explains Dr. Guus Bruins, CEO of Refaja Hospital. “Our physicians will receive their results more quickly and efficiently. But we are also very pleased to continue working with Agfa HealthCare. We have confidence and trust in their quality and service, and we appreciate the good relationship we share.”

“This agreement shows that we are a solid company with innovative products,” comments Albert Vroklage, Key Account Manager, Agfa HealthCare, the Netherlands. “The bids were competitive, but our combination of solutions, service and customer focus puts us ahead. We look forward to collaborating with Refaja Hospital over the coming years.”
