“We have always been committed to technological development, which is obvious, because our goal is to be one step ahead of our competitors,” said Munir Falah, President of Cine Colombia. “We also understand that technology can make or break our customers’ movie experiences. That’s why we’ve been working with Barco for four years – we don’t want to settle for less than the best.”

A growing commitment to movie exhibition quality
Cine Colombia has rapidly grown its investment in Barco’s digital cinema technology, increasing the number of projectors from a single in 2007 to 150 projectors by the end of 2013. “We were the first Colombian movie company to use a digital cinema projector,” comments Falah.

Over the years, Cine Colombia has purchased a wide variety of Barco projectors, reflecting its desire to create the perfect match for every cinema screen, reaping both the aesthetic and economic benefits of this approach. The DP2K-15C and DP2K-23B projectors are ideal for screens up to 49 and 75 ft., respectively. The DP4K-32B, designed for the biggest screens (up to 105 ft.), is the brightest digital projector in its class, thanks to its highly efficient optical design and patented DMD cooling system.

Immersive sound enriches the moviegoing experience
Cine Colombia equipped both its “Mega Sala Cineco” theaters in Titan Plaza in Bogota – one of the biggest shopping malls in the country – and in Cacique Mall in Bucaramanga – one of the newest in the country – with Auro 11.1 by Barco. Designed along three spatial axes (width, depth and height), rather than the two axes found in traditional surround sound, the Auro 11.1 sound format provides an immersive cinema audio experience with lifelike sound coming from all directions.

Dedicated to local service and support
“The serviceability and ease-of-use of the projectors are remarkable, which our operators really appreciate,” confirmed Alexandra Villamizar, Projection and Sound Manager at Cine Colombia. “Because of Barco’s excellent training, we now understand the equipment in depth so we can quickly fix any issues ourselves. But when we need assistance from Barco, they quickly respond and always exceed our expectations.”

Barco provides dedicated, local support teams to service equipment in the region, and quickly supplies parts from eight parts depots located in Latin America.

“We are very pleased to grow our relationship with Cine Colombia who shares our passion for cinema excellence,” comments Ney Corsino, Vice President for Barco Latin America. “They represent a great success story in the region, and we wholeheartedly support their desire to deliver magical movie experiences of the highest quality.”
